Should I or Shouldn’t I?

As I sit here and spend waste time on Facebook,
checking out Amazon looking for a shoulder bag/purse big enough to carry some daily necessities like my glucometer, a wallet, my cell phone ~ why the heck did I get such a big phone???, some medication, a few pens,
looking at emails, trying to figure out how to reply to some of them I find my mind

I should get up and clean my kitchen

I should pick up my crocheting ~ I have two different projects I am working on, both by the way too big and bulky to take on the plane next week when we fly to Washington

I should think about going to bed ~ we do go to work tomorrow

I should order my college transcripts to take a class being offered
by MCH which would eliminate having to take 30 hours of training

I should figure out how to get my birth certificate so I can get my Passport

So many

but here I sit
(cross legged in the recliner ~ that’s a GOOD thing)

So what do you think I should do?

is this what I really need to do???

Palestine, TX that is 😋

We woke up on Tuesday morning
feeling rested and ready to get out of the apartment
so we headed off to

Palestine, TX
about 95 miles from the Boys Ranch
the weather was sunny and supposed to be in the mid 60’s
definitely a great day for a drive.

We packed a small ice chest with water, cheese, beef sausage stick,
some protein bars and a few other things
and off we were.

The drive was wonderful.
First we listened to the six Christmas CD’s we had,
then changed them out to gospel ones.
We love to sing while we are driving
and today was no different.

One thing we noticed today in our drive
is that there are a lot of small cemeteries throughout the area.
We didn’t stop today to walk through any
but we have before.
We read the dates and try to imagine what their life
had been like.  Maybe next time.

We got back to the apartment just after 5:00
and the weather was definitely changing
as the wind was picking up and the air was quite chilly.

One thing we always do
before heading out for a trip, whether just into town
or out and about like today,
is PRAY.

In my scripture reading today I was reminded
over and over how God is our protector.

First in,

We may not always know what He protects us from,
but sometimes we can imagine.

Tonight on the news there was a story about a man with multiple guns,
the SWAT team responding and closing down Highway 45
for a few hours ~ one of the routes we had thought of taking
was Highway 45
protected us as we came home a totally different route.

One of our many discussions today
was about
for where would we be without God.
Our strength comes from Him.

We are thankful today that God
encouraged us to go a different route
and brought us safely back to our little apartment.

What are you thankful for today?

My verse for today
Image result for psalm 37 37
Peace is the calmness that surrounds
me when all is right in my world.

When I think of peace,
I think of God’s peace

Image result for peace that passes all understanding
the peace that passes all understanding.

I crave that peace,
the all encompassing peace
that surrounds me and flows through me.

I have felt that peace so many times in my life,
not daily but often
and more often than not in the past few years.

There was a time I didn’t have that peace
~ I was full of anger,
angry at the world,
angry at most everyone I came into contact with,
angry with the past,
angry with the present
and spewed anger at most every turn.

What changed that anger to peace?
Learning to trust and believe in God
that the truth of the matter was
that I could not change my past
but I could come to terms with the past
and make good, positive choices
every day of my life.

Have I always made good, positive choices? Umm NO
but I have found the love of Christ
who has forgiven me for the wrongs in the past that I committed,
who has allowed me to forgive those who have hurt me in the past,
for things they did and didn’t do.

Do I only make good, positive choices today? Umm NO
but I try to
and with seeking the Lord, trusting Him
and leaning on Him
I make better choices in my life.

In this year of choosing to be Fluid
I am also learning how to go with the flow
and not be so rigid in how I think things should be.

And so today I give thanks for the peace in my life,
for the peaceful time we have had off this week
and for the peace that passes all understanding
as we seek God’s guidance in
some decisions we need to be making over the next month or two.

I am so very thankful that the sin of anger
has been removed from my life.
Yes I still get angry and frustrated with things,
with people and circumstances
but my response to those things has changed.
I am not so quick to get angry over things I cannot control
and when I do get angry
I try to stop it as quick as possible.

Do I still need to work on this ~ you betcha!

But with God

What Will this Day Bring?

As I was reading this earlier today
I am reminded that each day is a gift from the Lord,
one to be treasured, enjoyed and shared with others.

Each of us sin, each of us need to ask for forgiveness.
But the wonderful thing is that God forgives us each and every time!!

Fluid ~ today my goal is to be flexible.
I have a few things that must get done but I don’t
want to be so focused I forget to look for the
special little blessings that show up throughout
the day.

What is your goal for today?

I have been thinking a lot about being grateful.
November seems to be the month everyone talks
about being grateful but shouldn’t we be grateful every day?
I used to keep a gratitude journal and like so many things in my life it just seemed to go to the wayside.  I think about things I am thankful for as I fall asleep at night but I want to be purposeful in giving thanks each and every day.

I have so much to be thankful for
~ the best loving and caring hubby in the world!
~ healthy kids and grandchildren
~ pretty good health
~ a good, yet challenging job
~ friends and family

What are you thankful for today?

Happy New Year!!!

Greetings to all our family and friends!!

New Year’s Resolution ~ so many people make them,
but how many of them are kept?

The dictionary states that a resolution is “a position arrived at after consideration” or a “firm or unwavering adherence to one’s purpose”

Another thing people choose around the new year is a word for the year .
I posed that question on my Facebook page
and these are the words suggested to me by friends and family members:

Mobile ~ because someday you will be there again

Confident ~ in yourself, in your abilities in your new job and life and in accepting you are on the journey you are meant to be on

Creative ~ finding new creative crochet patterns; finding creative food ventures for your health; having fun, creative off day trips

Patience ~ for yourself, your charges, your faith

Upbeat ~ that in all things and circumstances you will find the good and a purpose!

Acceptance ~ it will make it easier for you to go with any flow this river of life will throw at you

Flexible, Fluid, Moving ~ so you can flow with the Spirit

Listen ~ list to God, to Ron, to your inner voice, non-verbal communication from the boys.

Teach ~ teach those things that others are interested in.

Love ~ God’s love through you

I have been praying and meditating on each of the words above
and have felt the Lord laid on my heart to go with

The definition of fluid is listed as:
a. having particles that easily move and change their relative position without a separation of the mass and that easily yield to pressure; capable of flowing
b. subject to change or movement
c. characterized by or employing a smooth easy style like a ballerina

Ali’s Definition of FLUID ~ to move and change positions as needed, to be positive and encouraging, be firm when necessary yet outpouring of God’s love to others; remembering to enjoy life as God blesses me; remembering METANOIA ~ having a change of heart in the since knowing when to be firm yet also being soft, caring and full of love

summed up:
to be filled with love and care for those I come into contact with, holding firm when necessary yet remembering that nothing is set in stone and that there is room for movement, encouragement, going with the flow yet remaining consistent, extending grace and mercy with those I come into contact with.

I don’t usually make New Year Resolutions
but going into a
new week,
new month
and a new year

Ron and I have been talking about our life
and what we would like to see in 2017 for each of us
individually and as a couple

~ to get healthier; in the last year I have lost 20 lbs;
in 2017 I would like to lose 35 lbs

~ to walk; we have the goal of walking 2,017 miles together;
we will be tracking this each day with the help of our Fitbit and Garmin

~ to focus on things we enjoy; for me that is writing
for the two of us ~ spending quality time together, making new memories
and sharing new experiences
~ growing in our relationship with each other and the Lord

Do you make resolutions?
If so, why? If not, why not?
