We have had a good weekend, spending three nights at B & D’s while they were at Universal Studios for a 3 day mini-vacation.

While we were pup sitting, we enjoyed the hot tub & pool, nice long hot showers (our 5-minute quickies are just that in our Little Home on Wheels). And of course, snuggling with CJ, Sean & Charlie. Sean is my protector when Danalyn is not around, CJ is the goofy one and Charlie is not sure what to do when he is not the only pup.
Saturday, I went for my eye doctor appointment. I know prices have risen for things but $608 + tax ~ this is after a $300 payment from the insurance company) for a pair of lenses, not even a full set of glasses, is a bit much. The doctor was very nice and thorough. I got an all clear of no signs of diabetes in my eye. She was concerned about the droopiness of my left eye lid and suggested I see an ocularist to have a new eye made. I told her I would love to have a new eye made as it has been almost 12 years since I had my current one made. I usually need a new one every 5 to 8 years. I explained that we don’t have $5000 (paid up front) for a new eye to be made and knowing what Medicare will pay. They have said they may or may not pay up to $1000 towards an artificial eye…key words there: may or may not and they don’t make that decision until after the new eye has been made. It is so frustrating, for so many reasons. The biggie for me is that me having an artificial eye is cosmetic – um, I don’t think so…my eye was removed to an injury that caused glaucoma to develop and the removal of my eye was to make sure it didn’t spread into my right eye. This is one of my biggest pet peeves with insurance companies…people who know nothing about my medical history can make a decision regarding my care. I have also learned to just deal with what I can and cannot control (not muchπ). After a stop at Walmart (they don’t take my insurance) and then Target I ordered new glasses. New frames, new lenses, progressive and insurance it was less that $525 total including taxes. Much better deal than the eye clinic was offering.
Sunday morning we attended First Baptist Church of Land o Lakes for their Easter Cantata. It was nice to sing hymns that mean a lot to us both: “Because He Lives” and “He Arose!” FBC is a large church, usually having 3 weekly services on Sunday mornings. We are glad that we went and participated in Resurrection Sunday services, but we probably wouldn’t go there on a regular basis as it is really too big for us. And that is okay – we each choose what works for us.
Sunday afternoon we took a nap and took advantage of having access to a washer & dryer and got all our laundry done. And then loaded up the truck with all our stuff & Charlie and headed home. The kids/grands got home about 2 hours after we left. Once home, we put away the laundry, made the bed and watched some TV. All in all it was a good weekend.
Today we slept in…I was up before 8:30 and Ron rolled out of bed just after 10:30. Today we have to go to Tractor Supply to get propane. While washing dishes yesterday the water got hot and then cold and stayed cold. Ron checked and both propane tanks were empty π We will also do our weekly grocery shopping. And prepare as best we can for the upcoming 4-days of 10-hours ~ this week we are working Tuesday thru Friday.
We are getting closer to our vacation – 20 days till we fly to Seattle and 27 days till we board the Norwegian Encore. I keep reminding Ron and myself we need to make sure to put the phone on Airplane mode while we are at sea…we have heard of some really high phone bills for those who didn’t do that.

For those of you who have taken a cruise – what would be your Top 5 Things we need to take or do. Our cruise is from Seattle to Alaska and back to Seattle via Vancouver, BC.

I’m excited to spend time with my older sisters’ (Kathy) daughter, Christi and her sweet hubby Doug! We are planning two specialty dinners together and lots of picture taking and visiting.
Guess that’s all for now…talk to y’all soon!
