Rest

Yesterday seemed like a very long day in so many ways. I worked all morning and it was not even 11:00a! In the evening, I took T & A to basketball practice to help Danalyn while Brandon is out of town…parking was at a premium at the community center. After two trips around the parking lot I dropped the boys off by the concession stand and told them I would find them on the courts. Two more trips around the parking lot, pulling up on the grass to park I sat for a minute to catch my breath and then a parking spot opened up right before me. Thank you Jesus for providing the simplest of things.

I walked to where the boys were, watched for about 50 minutes and after becoming dinner for a few unwanted friends I told T I was going to the truck and they could find me near the concession stand where I dropped them off. I walked to the truck, telling the dang mosquitos they really could find another restaurant for dinner – this one was closed. I don’t think they believed me 🤷‍♀️️. I pulled around to be closer to where the boys would come out. I was so proud of myself, I backed into a parking spot and it only took me two times to get straight!!!! For those who know, you know!!!

I took the boys back to their place, said hi to Brandon (he was chatting with Danalyn on Facetime – technology is wonderful when it is. Grabbed some leftovers and Charlie and came back to our Little Home on Wheels. I put the groceries away, got ready for bed and made myself comfortable in the recliner ~~ my shoulder was really hurting so the recliner beat out the bed for sleep.

Shortly thereafter, Ron came home from work and we chatted for a bit…we often don’t get to talk to each other during the week because of our work schedules so it was nice to catch up. I think I fell asleep about 11p – that’s late for me as most nights I am snoozing by 8:30p ~ it was okay because I got to spend some Grammy time with the littles (who really aren’t so little anymore).

I woke up and it was 5:13A — must have gotten enough sleep because my alarm was set to go off at 5:45 – so I just started my day a bit earlier than normal. As I was getting dressed I chuckled…what is happening to me, waking up early, not feeling so exhausted (thankful for that today – who knows what tomorrow will look like?) I got ready for work, made my lunch and opened up my devotion for this morning.

And thanked Poppa God for the good night’s rest I had gotten. And then I put myself in this picture, sitting along a creek admiring His handiwork and just resting in His presence. My happy place ~ by the water.

REST ~ comes in many forms…sitting at a park, resting and actually sleeping, doing something a bit different than normal, listening to music or walking along a creek bed. I’m thankful for the rest I have had these past few hours.

How do you rest? Sometimes I feel like all I do is rest: rest my shoulder, sleep till noon, veg in the recliner – all different kinds of rest…thank you Poppa God for the gift of rest and the many ways You provide it.

  1. So glad you woke refreshed this morning. Must have been the night for restorative sleep because I woke feel better than I have for quite some time. I love the park bench by the water. I can picture us both sitting there chatting away. Love you.
