~ The Many Places we Called Home ~ Part IV
In 2003 I lost my job with Option Care when they eliminated all middle management positions. We made the decision to sell our place on Grandview Rd in Ferndale, WA to lower our expenses. This led us to move #
23. We moved back to Blaine and rented a home on Harborview Road. It was on seven acres with a beautiful view of Drayton Harbor. We faced more ups and downs but through it all Poppa God took care of us.
1. One thing we enjoyed was being able to see the fireworks both from Canada and Blaine. It was super convenient as we didn’t have to drive!
2. While living on Harborview Rd I had many issues dealing with depression; running manic or depressed most of the time. Ron and I are both so thankful for all who prayed for me, for us during some of my darkest days and time.
3. Feelings of Highs & Lows filled our life during that time. One special high was when my mom flew up from San Jose for the 4th of July and celebrated with us that Jamie was home for 2 weeks of leave. One funny memory while Jamie was home happened on the morning of July 4th. I was standing at the sink doing dishes wearing shorts & a tank top and Jamie came upstairs wearing jeans, a turtleneck sweater and his letterman jacket. I turned around and saw him and said “Aren’t you hot?!!!” He replied, “Mom two days ago it was 114°!” And we both laughed.
4. One of the biggest lows was getting the call that my mom had passed away. She died on Halloween 2005 which happened to be the anniversary of when her dad, my Grandpa George also passed. BUT Poppa God sent a special blessing ~ my Christmas cactus had the most beautiful bloom open. It was my sign of hope and remembering that Poppa God knows what we need right when we need it.
24. Our 24th move was the beginning of a new journey and adventure and one of our dreams coming true. We had often talked about traveling in a motor home and seeing the country. Upon our return from a CMA conference in Oregon we arrived back home to find a For Sale sign in our front yard. Ron spoke with the property manager and told her we didn’t want to buy another house, we wanted to buy a motor home and travel and work around the country. That dream stemmed from knowing that Ron’s parents were always going to travel after Pete retired and due to his cancer that never happened for them. Leslie, the property manager told Ron she wouldn’t sell us a house but she did have a motor home we might be interested in. After quite the discussion, she told Ron to take me to see it. We stopped to see the motor home and immediately fell in love. Leslie offered us the sweetest deal…pay $1000 down and $800 a month (our rent at the time), give 30 days notice, formality and then make 10 payments and it would be ours. And we could register it immediately. Thanksgiving week of 2006 we moved into the motor home For the next three years we moved between two different campgrounds and camping out at The C Shop ~ thank you Pat and Pat for your friendship and opening your yard for us to camp in. We count those two years as one move😊.
Aren’t you glad?
