Friday night Ron and I went to dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse – the food was delicious, and the company was perfect. It had been a long time since we had been out for dinner at a nice restaurant. The two best things ~ we had a gift card w/$30 on it and we brought home enough of our dinners for dinner on Saturday!!
Saturday found us running errands as we were having the roof redone which meant we had to turn the AC off for a few hours…ugh…so thankful for our kids, B & D – who let us drop Charlie off for a play date with Sean and CJ! We know Charlie likes going there because as we get closer to their house the more excited he gets. He also likes to come home where he can sleep on the bed and the couch and doesn’t have to compete with the other boys.
We spent Saturday afternoon and evening just vegging, watching TV and I worked on a crochet project. The hard part is it has lots of black yarn!! Black yarn is hard to see where your stitches are going. I have a lighted crochet hook but I can’t find the charging cord. I’m sure it is in one of my many yarn bags, totes or hiding places. Maybe we have another charging cord for another XXX and it will work…I will hunt for that tomorrow.
Sunday Ron was up early, went to Publix and bought some butter and dog food. Charlie was out of food and we used up all the butter on Saturday morning. After Ron got back we talked a bit and decided to do a couple of projects…Ron went to Lowes and bought more plexiglass for our screen door…it stays pretty warm here most of the year and I like to have the door open to get sunlight in so he made a storm door for the top/bottom of our screen door. We had made one when we lived in Texas but it got broke in one of our many moves. $80 later we have a nice storm door and a new broom.
While Ron was at Lowes and then working on the door I took on the challenge of cleaning & purging the little cabinet and table that sits between our recliners. I got rid of a bunch of books that have just been collecting dust and which I waas really going to read ~ put those in the free box at work, gave a couple of .journals to Yani at work for her and her daughter. As well I cleaned out our shoe boxes ~ I got rid of 5 pairs of shoes for various reasons: broken, don’t wear and about ready to break. While looking for the velcro for the door I ended up cleaning and purging the stuff in the drawer of our triangle table…I’m sure you have one -a catch all for everything. We had paper clips, charging cords that go to who knows what, cup hooks and more contact hooks & stickies and $40 worth of quarters. We haven’t had to use quarters for laundry since we moved here to Winter Quarters January of 2025!!!
All in all I felt pretty good! I have gotten so overwhelmed with “wanting to clean and purge our little home on wheels . I have been saying that for months then I thought – break it down into little steps. So my goal for Sunday was to do the table & the cubby between the recliners, the triangle drawer happened because I was looking for the velcro and the shoes just seemed to be spilling over so I took that project on.
In the afternoon, Ron went to B’s place to watch the Seahawks and I stayed home and crocheted ~ yes, the black yarn. And then it was time to go to bed and start the work week.
One of the things I have been trying to do in the mornings is have some quiet time reading my Bible/devotional and spending time in prayer. While cleaning out the table/cubby I found a little booklet

and decided to start that on Monday morning. Each day is comprised of two pages, a scripture verse, a story and then some challenges. It all has to do with prayer and spending time in prayer.
The first day I read the introduction/welcome ~ I underlined a few things
- we often find ourselves uncertain about how to pray
- or when to pray
- or what to pray for
- prayer is not a religious duty but life giving conversation w/Poppa God
- sometimes when words fail us the Holy Spirit Himself intercedes on our behalf
- experience the joy of deeper communion with my Poppa God.
Day 1 ~ Keep Knocking ~ Scripture is Luke 11:5-13

While praying ~ Speak Boldly, Seek Him and His will, Knock on the door and allow Jesus to invite you in and Ask Poppa God what He would have you to do.
Praying is an act of faith ~ it’s not just going to happen; I have to put action into my prayers
Prayer is not magic ~ it is an act of faith
Attitude = Gratitude; I need to appreciate what I have. I am so richly blessed, count my blessings, name them one by one
Prayer is not a one and done thing ~ it should be a part of every day.
