Vacation Day 4 ~ Relaxing & Reminiscing

We decided to take a day of rest. We slept in till 8:30 and woke refreshed. Kathy and Judy both had appointments so we are just piddling around – Ron tore apart a couple of old flower beds that J & K wanted done. M, A’s hubby will all the wood away.

I spent the morning reading through emails, tried not to think about work (not so easy) and decided to share part of our drive yesterday evening. Hope you enjoy seeing pictures of the area where Ron grew up and we lived for 30 years. These pictures specifically taken at the old Alaskan Packers property.

Cannery Warehouse – cases of canned salon were stored here.
Another old warehouse
The sign on this old warehouse talks about the Plover Ferry. It was the yard tug when Pete (Ron’s dad) worked there. Now in the summer they use it as a passenger ferry to shuttle people from Blaine to Semiahmoo.
We asked a couple of girls who were doing Senior pictures to take our picture.
Another picture the girls took. The land across from the pier we are standing on is the little town of Blaine.
View of White Rock Canada from the Semiahmoo Spit
Another view looking across from Semiahmoo to Blaine.
Another warehouse on the property.
Ron holding one of the many cables holding pilings from the days that Pete worked at Alaska Packers.
Close up of the water tower. You can see this tower from the shores of Blaine in town.
Ron looking at the old machinery in the Donkey House. The Donkey House held all the wenches that were used to move the boats used during the spring & summer busy fishing season. On the backside of this building which we couldn’t get too, is where Pete and all the workers would eat their lunch.

We enjoyed walking around the old Packers work area. Ron had lots of memories and stories as we spent nearly two hours walking around. Hope you enjoyed this trip down memory lane.

Please let me know what you think?
