Table
I’m choosing “Table”
The first thing that came to mind is how my focus so far today has been on cleaning my kitchen (we don’t have a table, we use TV trays LOL) but I found a little bug in my sink so that meant I really needed to clean my kitchen and do the dishes…yes it had been a couple of days since I had done them ~ shame on me LOL!
Table reminds me of kitchen, kitchen needed cleaning because of a little bug I saw come up the drain 🤬 and so I also moved the air fryer to the angle countertop cabinet and moved the ice maker next to the coffee maker which both now sit on the sink – closer to the water!!!
Thinking about TABLE – the first memory came up of seeing my mom sitting at a little table at my aunt’s place when I came down for breakfast one morning! To say I was surprised would be an understatement…it had been a few years since I had spoken with her (her choice another long story). I can say I was pleasantly surprised and a bit nervous. The last time we had talked it had not gone so well.

This was taken that morning in Summer of 2004. I am on the left, Peggy (my mom) is in the center and on the right is my Aunt Joan – in many ways my mom too!!! We are sitting at the little table on the screened in porch at the Noyes Ranch where my Aunt Joan and Uncle Don lived. Special memories for sure!
I remember lots of conversation around that table that morning along with lots of tears and even some laughter. That morning was the beginning of the healing in my relationship with my mom. And I’m thankful that my Aunt Joan orchestrated it all. Mom passed away the following October 2005.
Sometimes I wish we had a table and chair here in our little home on wheels but there’s just no room especially since we got Charlie Boy! His kennel goes where our Dutch cabinet used to be and so the space where a table would be is filled with a cabinet…choices!
Table…a place to sit with my coffee cup and laptop to write though now I use a TV Tray Table. A place to play games with the grands…we put two TV tray tables together to do that! Table ~ a place to share a meal with friends and family. One thing I miss with not having a table is putting a centerpiece of flowers on the table…I love to have fresh flower arrangements but with no table and counter space at a premium in our little home on wheels cut flowers don’t make it here very often.
As I look around our little home on wheels I notice we have placed a board on top of the kennel to make additional countertop space: it has the fruit bowl, salt & pepper shaker, Charlie Boys’ treat jar, some decorative pigs and the snack basket for snacks for Ron’s lunches. The printer is on the Dutch cabinet (we call it that because we brought it back from Holland when we moved back to the states in 1979!!!
In another corner we have three little cabinets/containers that have things on them…well two of them have my babies/stuffed animals on them…I chuckle as I think about this 65 year old lady with her two babies, her pig baby and other animals that I have accumulated over the years. Maybe I should think of passing them on…nah I smile when I look at them!!!
And then of course the little built in table by my rocker/glider holds my Bible, notebook, a couple of books I’m reading and pens, lots and lots of pens!!!
